The purpose of ECSA’s visit was to investigate the various facets and the quality of all programmes offered by the Faculty. A substantial amount of time was also spent on discussions with senior management, staff members and students.
After a strenuous week, the visiting committee gave preliminary feedback. They indicated that full accreditation would be awarded (with conditions in some cases) to the Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Metallurgical and Industrial Engineering departments. The Civil Engineering Department was awarded provisional accreditation pending a revisit in September 2010.
Professor Otieno, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, advised his staff to embrace the continuous improvement approach in all their operations and activities.
“ECSA will be visiting the institution once again in 2014, and with the continuous improvement we implement as a matter of course, I am absolutely confident that the Faculty will be miles ahead in all facets of its programmes and quality by then,” Prof Otieno said.
ECSA will be visiting the distant campuses at the end of September 2009. | |
