This year, the programme organisers pulled all stops to ensure that students feel at home.
Students were given the opportunity to get to know each other on a social level, to ease them into their new lives as students. “We participated in different exciting games such as the wheelbarrow, tyre games, ching chong chaw, Amazon river and the four way tug of war. I am grateful, we had so much fun and made new friends,” said Lutendo Siliga, one of the students who participated in the games. The Engineering Extended Programme, at the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, is intended for those students who have definite potential to successfully achieve an engineering qualification, but who need more preparation and skills. Their diploma studies are then extended by six months. “We feel very welcomed by the Faculty, the day was a success. Everyone participated including the lecturers. We got to know them better thus it will be easier for us to approach them in class when we need help,” said Tebogo Mputsoe. |
